3 Steps to Better Skin in 30 days
Murrieta Day Spa Technicians share tips and recommend products to get better skin quickly and easily
By Murrieta Day Spa
Better skin is probably the number one reason people go to day spas in America. It is something everyone wants to attain but not many people do the essential things to get it.
1. Focus on Reducing Stress
Stress plays a major part in the health of our skin. It effects our skin in several ways, dry skin, wrinkling and our complexion. When we are stressed, our bodies release a hormone called cortisol which causes several detrimental things to occur like increase the skin’s oil production and accumulation of fat, making you more prone to pimples and blemishes.
Another stress effect on the skin is wrinkling. When cortisol is released, sugar levels in the blood increase and encourages a process called glycation, an effect that damages collagen, hardening the skin and increasing the appearance of wrinkles and lines.
Needless to say that stress plays a significant factor in how our skin looks and how quickly it ages. If you lead a stressful life, there are many ways to reduce stress but here are three ways that everyone can do to impact the amount of stress our bodies’ experience and have better skin immediately.
Take Time to Relax
Believe it or not relaxing takes less time than you think. You need to find ways to go from OMG to Om and do it in less than 15 minutes. Many stressed people forget that they can embody a way of life that limits stress altogether. If you take the time once in a while to slow down, take some breaks, relax, and try to take things not too seriously, you will be not as stressed. Meditation, deep breathing, and quiet alone time can be just the thing to eliminate stress, and the effects that stress has on the skin. Try it, you will see a difference right away. Relaxations equals better skin.
Get Moving and Exercise
Physical activity boosts circulation, which in turn battles the effects that adrenaline can have on the skin. Another way to look at it is, physical activity helps your complexion, and, when there is more blood flow to the skin, there are also fewer toxins, and thus less cellulite, and more alive, healthy, radiant-looking skin.
Rejuvenate your Skin through Sleep
During sleep, our skin repairs what has been damaged during the day. Sleep plays a big part in limiting the release of cortisol in our bodies. A lack of sleep puts stress on skin, so making sure you have at least 7 hours of sleep a night. Remember, sleep is a must for healthy, stress-free and better skin.
2. Water is Essential for Better Skin
Drinking an adequate amount of water daily is important for overall good health because water aids in digestion, circulation, absorption and even excretion. Consider this, your skin is actually an organ, made up of cells. Skin cells like any other cell in your body, are made up of water. Without water, organs will not function properly. If your skin is not getting the sufficient amount of water, the lack of hydration will present itself by turning your skin dry, tight and flaky. Dry skin has less resilience and is more prone to wrinkling. So drink lots of water. A good rule of thumb is to drink half your body weight in ounces each day. If you way 130 pounds then you should be drinking 65 ounces of water each day. Remember that 8 ounces Is one glass so that is roughly 8 glasses of water.
3. Watch Your Exposure to the Sun
The effects of sun damage on your skin and overall health can vary depending on the level of sun exposure you have had, your skin type, your age and a variety of other factors. Sun damage can lead to cosmetic changes in your skin, such as premature ageing, wrinkles and discoloration. It can also lead to more serious conditions, like skin cancer.
Sun damage, especially in the Temecula Valley accounts for some of the most severe effects on the skin. How you protect yourself from the Sun’s powerful UV rays will have an effect on how your skin looks, especially as you age.
There are many more steps that will help you have better skin in 30 days and we specialize in many of those steps. Exfoliating the skin is key especially after you hit the big 3-0. Establishing a skincare routine or regimen is very important, using the right cleansers, moisturizers and sunscreen can have a significant impact on how your skin looks. Using over-the-counter (OTC) products can be OK but because of the low quality of the ingredients used to keep the price down, you might being doing more damage to your skin than good. Check with a skincare professional or specialist to find out what is best for your skin type. Services like facial massages and facial masks can make an immediate impact on your skin.
