The Power of Five to Feeling and Looking Good

The Power of Five to Feeling and Looking Good

It seems like we are working harder than ever and never have enough time to do some of the smallest things for ourselves.
Having been in the entertainment business and owning a day spa for over 20 years I understand the relationship between feeling and looking good. When you focus on your health you naturally look better because you feel better. Here are some simple steps to change your normal everyday routine that won’t overwhelm you and are easy to achieve:

#1. Drink an herbal tea in the morning or before bed. Herbal tea has lots of wonderful health benefits. Herbs can sooth a troubled tummy, ease insomnia, and calm the mind.

#2. Eat your water. Hydration should be defined by the water you keep, not the water you drink. You keep water when your cells are healthy and can hold onto the water you give it. Healthy cells are maintained with a nutritious diet packed with fruits and vegetables. If you don’t eat well, you can drink all of the water you want and it will pass right through you.

#3. Go for a 20 minute walk before or after dinner. Not only does walking help burn calories but it increases creative thinking by 60%!

#4. Don’t eat dinner past 7pm. Calories you don’t burn off before bed are likely to be stored as fat. Also eating too close to bedtime spikes your blood sugar levels making it harder to fall asleep.

#5. Make a to-do list. This will help organize your thoughts so you have a clear understanding of what needs to get done. Sometimes seeing our tasks on paper take us from feeling overwhelmed to feeling accomplished as we successfully check off what we get done.

It is very demanding being a business owner and mom. Personally, reading a good book, sharing a laugh or a walk with friends, playing scrabble with my kids, and enjoying services at my spa are some of my favorite ways to unwind. Stop and smell the roses, literally. Slow down and enjoy your life more. I challenge you to make a list of some of your favorite things to do…. and then just do them!
